From the box
The housing is made of steel and reinforced glass. Thanks to this, I can charge this refurbished iPhone X wirelessly with the right charger. The device feels comfortable in my hand, it feels a little more reliable than the refurbished iPhone 8. In the packaging, I find a Lightning cable to charge the iPhone X with. A charger adapter isn't included.
Bezel-less OLED screen
This refurbished iPhone X has a large 5.8-inch screen. The screen doesn't have black bezels. This was the first iPhone with a super Retina OLED display, and you notice this right away. Thanks to True Tone, the screen is bright and the colors are more vibrant than on its predecessor the iPhone 7. The OLED technology is energy-efficient too. The iPhone X had some screen issues during the release. Luckily, this refurbished iPhone X has been repaired with new parts. I didn't notice anything about the operation of the screen.
Navigating without a home button
The bezel-less OLED screen of the iPhone X covers the entire front of the device. This means that there's no room for the home button, which was the case on the iPhone 8 and SE. I open the control panel by swiping down from the top right corner. This is quite difficult with one hand, especially because the iPhone X refurbished has a larger screen than the iPhone 8, for example. I also have to practice switching between apps a couple of times.
Unlock with Face ID
With the iPhone X, I no longer have to use my finger to unlock the device. The disappearance of the home button means that there's no longer a fingerprint sensor on this iPhone. I unlock the iPhone X refurbished with Face ID. All I have to do is look at the front camera. The iPhone X always recognizes my face. Poor lighting isn't a problem and I can keep my glasses on.
Dual cameras
The front camera isn't just good for Face ID, I can also take decent pictures with it. I can add a depth of field effect with the portrait mode, and my selfie looks professional thanks to the portrait lighting. With the dual 12-megapixel rear camera, I can take sharp photos. Thanks to the telephoto lens, I can use the optic zoom without losing quality. The image stabilization compensates light motions when I'm recording.
Conclusion
The OLED screen of the iPhone X refurbished lives up to the expectations. It's bright and the colors are vibrant. The OLED screen is energy-efficient as well, so the battery of my refurbished iPhone X lasts an entire day. I have to get used to navigating without a home button, but this doesn't take me long. I find it very easy to unlock the device via Face ID.
