Tip 1: lost your AirPods? Find them with the Find my iPhone app
You've probably lost your AirPods before. Maybe you left them in your bag after your workout, but you thought you'd put them on your desk. Whenever this happens, you can go to the Find my app on your iPhone. Tap devices and then your AirPods. You can now see their location and make them play a sound. That way, you can quickly and easily find back the earbuds.
Tip 2: connect 2 pairs of AirPods to 1 iPhone
Do you want to listen to the same music with someone else? Connect 2 pairs of Apple AirPods to the same iPhone or iPad with iOS 13 or higher. To connect them, open the Control Center and tap the AirPlay logo. Now tap Share Audio and hold the other pair of AirPods near your iPhone. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Tip 3: hear who's calling
Thanks to the built-in microphone, you can make calls with your AirPods. The only downside is that you can't see who's calling when you're on your bike. That's why you can have your AirPods announce who's calling. Go to the Settings menu on your iPhone and then to Phone. Tap Announce calls and you'll hear who's calling.
Tip 4: have messages read aloud
In addition to having an incoming call announced, you can also have incoming messages read aloud. That way, you know who sent it and what they've sent. Go to the Settings on your iPhone and search Notifications. Here, you'll see the option Announce Notifications. Check this option and your messages will be read aloud.
Tip 5: keep an eye on the battery
There's a light on the charging case of your AirPods that emits different light in different colors. These colors indicate the battery level. Green means fully charged, orange means partly charged, and yellow means that the battery is almost empty. When the light is white, the AirPods are ready to be connected. If you want a more precise indication of the battery level, open the charging case near your iPhone. You'll see a popup on the screen displaying this information.
