Retract and extend the camera lens
If the lens of your compact camera no longer retracts or extends, turn the camera off and on again first. Doesn't this work? Reset the camera. If the solutions below don't help either, the camera will likely have to be repaired.

Turn the camera off and remove the battery. Put the battery back in the camera after 10 seconds. Now turn the camera back on and check if the lens retracts and extends again. Does the lens still not work? Reset the camera.
Step 2: reset the camera
There are different ways to reset your camera. Some cameras have a reset button. You can recognize this button by the word 'Reset' next to it. Push this button for 2 to 3 seconds. Other cameras have a reset function that's integrated into the menu. Open the settings menu and go to the suitcase icon. In this tab, you can 'Reset' or 'Initialize' the camera.
