When unpacking, I was positively surprised by the appearance of the speaker. Very nice device with beautiful materials and a high class look of the fabric covering that continues all around. The device also feels good and sturdy.
After connecting the power cable and installing the HEOS app, the installation is completed in no time. Very simple and the speaker is immediately ready for use via WiFi, ideal! The controls on the device itself also work nicely, with the control buttons (touch) lighting up nicely as soon as your hand comes close. This works very quickly and intuitively. What I also really like is the adjustable LED, which you can set to brightness. Very nice to have a very subtle light with which you can see that the device is on standby on Sundays that the lighting is too noticeable.
The only drawback in terms of ease of use is the setting of radio stations in your favorites or via the preset buttons. I couldn't find anywhere where and how to search and add radio stations. Just like with Sonos (which I have at work), I would like to see a category (internet) radio in the app, where you can search for stations from all over the world and then play and add them directly. Now it took me a while to find out that I could register for free via Tune in. Subsequently, many channels appear not to play. Too bad this doesn't work better.
The sound of the speaker is simply stunning. I never thought that such a full and beautiful sound can come from such a small device. I even had to turn the bass setting down considerably because the average setting was too abundant for the room in which the speaker is located. Perfect, because I like a good, full bass that I would rather have to lower than that it falls short. Everyone I let the sound hear is amazed that what they hear comes out of that little block in the corner of the room. Compliments to Denon on the sound quality!
What I am not yet sure is whether this speaker can serve as a replacement for my sound set, consisting of a Denon amplifier and 2 Jamo speakers. This is because I have not yet succeeded in connecting the speaker to the TV in a simple, direct way. The only option so far is via the headphone output of the TV to the AUX input of the speaker. However, the speaker does not automatically detect that it needs to switch to the AUX input, so I have to arrange this via the HEOS app first. Then I can't control the sound via the remote control of the TV, but I have to do this again via the app. Hopefully I will find a solution for this so that I can realize my intention of replacing my sound set.
Overall, very satisfied with the appearance, ease of connection via WiFi and the excellent sound quality. Less happy with the functionality of connecting to the TV and configuring internet radio.
