WiiM Pro Plus

The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the weight of the Wiim Pro Plus. It is very light and even feels a bit plasticky. But of course you don't notice that once it is on the cabinet. And I understand that they have to cut corners somewhere for this very competitive price. No display, but of course you know that in advance. You have to buy the more expensive Ultra for that. What is a huge plus is that all cables are simply included. Adapter, USB-C, RCA, and optical SPDIF. I left the remote control packed because you control it via an app anyway, and volume control is done on the receiver in my case. Everything connected, network cable in, Wiim app opened. It found the device immediately. And what a relief: No account required to use this device! Immediately linked all my streaming services: Spotify (boo, still no Hi Res!), Qobuz, Plex, and TuneIn. This also all went smoothly from the first time. The Wiim app is easy to use and very clear. Searching for an artist or album automatically searches all linked streaming services. Browsing through the different services is also smooth. Playlists or favorites can simply be found. Furthermore, you can set the sound completely to your liking: How the DAC should behave, EQ, even Room Correction. I just left it completely on Flat, let the DAC do its work and send it analog to my A/V Receiver. Finally Hi Res sound through the speakers!
