After many years of Senseo with a separate small espresso machine, switched to this Delonghi. Mainly because we are replacing two appliances for one (small countertop in the kitchen) and because the pad system for the Senseo is not really cheap (when drinking a lot of coffee) That is why the Nespresso system with the (ridiculously) expensive cups was absolutely not an option. I can be short: this device is a REVELATION ! - This is coffee! Deliciously warm with a real foam layer and not some addition to make things foam - A powerful milk frother that is easy to keep clean - Extremely easy to use and maintain. The coffee unit can simply be rinsed under the tap, for example - Many adjustment options according to taste & use (temperature, grinding degree, amount of coffee beans per grind, temperature, amount of water per cup) - Single or double espresso or lungo at the touch of a button - A large water reservoir of almost 2 liters + bean reservoir for 250gr beans (or 1 small package) - Auto power off - Possibility of using ground coffee (ideal for a late décafiné) It took a while to find the perfect coffee (bean) for us and play with the settings, but the result is (again, sorry :-) ) worth it. Enjoy time and time again! At a certain point we were without coffee beans (and the shops closed of course), so we brought out the Senseo again. I must confess that neither of us have finished our bags. Are there no 'disadvantages'? Yes, but nothing dramatic: - The water (limescale) filter that has to be placed in the tank is quite expensive and only lasts two months. If you have 'hard' water, this must be taken into account, since the appliance itself indicates when it needs to be descaled (it will continue to work, but a red light will flash). We take water through the (American) refrigerator, which also contains a filter or cheap bottled water. - The stainless steel plate on which the cups are placed when making coffee scratches quickly - There is space on top of a device for extra cups, but this is not a warming plate (the manual doesn't say anything about this either) - Rather a pity than a real disadvantage: when the device is free, one looks from the right through the water tank at a whopper of a barcode/serial number Overall VERY satisfied with this beautiful and compact device!

A big improvement compared to the Senseo devices

After years of drinking nespresso, I wanted to get rid of the cups, because of the price and especially for the environment. After a good search I found di Longhi, the coffee is really delicious and a lot cheaper than cups!!
