My previous phones all had the smar cover variant: S7 and S20. The cover of S20 in particular was just perfect. Closes like a refrigerator door, handy window where, for example, the call could be rejected through the cover. Little rubber-like structure that has saved my phone several times and when the alarm goes off I lift the cover in my sleep and release it to activate the repeat. So I decided to also spend a little more on the S23 for this handy functionality and therefore opt for original Samsung clearview. I'am sorry. The mentioned functionality is there, but the implementation is downright bad. The window has no glass. As a result, that part of your phone is simply not protected, but you also have to go through a window with your finger to refuse a call, for example. That is very inconvenient because the buttons right next to the thick edge are miniscule. The cover doesn't close properly either. If you let the cover fall closed, it bounces back a bit as it were and does not stay tight on the top. There is certainly 4mm space between the cover and the venter. If you then pick up the phone, this play does not feel solid. If you want to slip the phone into your back pocket, the protruding edge with that slack will easily catch on your clothes. The base of the cover is good; the sides fit tightly around the device and also cover the buttons (unlike the S20 cover). The material feels nice and silky, but is not really suitable for a phone cover. Only touch if you wash your hands first, otherwise stains will appear (hand cream, wet hands, breadcrumbs, you won't get rid of the stains!). In addition, the silky layer is very sensitive to scratches. After 1 day it doesn't look good, my 2 year old S20 cover still looks very neat except for some scratches in the transparent window. So absolutely not recommended. Unfortunately, it is not clear to me whether another brand of cover can also trigger the phone on/off, because I am considering purchasing another cover. @Coolblue: Can't you indicate with the covers whether a cover can turn the screen on/off?

The case fits tightly around the phone. The "cover" of the book cover protrudes. And furthermore, as beautiful as the color of the S23 green is, the green of the case is just as ugly. It's kind of army green. If I had known that, I would have just bought a black one.

The S23 Clear View Book Case looks nice and the green color matches the green phone perfectly, but unfortunately I don't find it practical. You really see everything on it and it is difficult to clean / keep, both front, back and inside. If you have just rubbed your hands with hand cream or you have washed your hands that are just not completely dry, and then you pick up your phone, you can assume that there are extra stains on it that you cannot get off. The material also feels a bit cheap and is slippery, so you have to be careful that it doesn't slip out of your hands. Furthermore, this book case no longer has plastic for the clear view screen; as a result, the front of the phone is actually not fully protected if you have it in your bag, next to your keys for example, because scratches can still appear on your screen. Despite a book case, you would still have to apply a screen protector for this reason. I also had the Clear View Book Case from my previous Samsung (S20), which I liked very much. Fitted the phone perfectly and stayed nice (and clean!). Unfortunately, I am not very satisfied with the S23 Clear View Book Case and will probably buy a cheaper back cover with screen protector.
