According to our toaster expert
The KitchenAid Artisan Toaster has a striking retro design and is made of cast metal. So the toaster is very robust. The Artisan toaster offers the ultimate toasting experience. The automatic sensor automatically raises the toasted bread when it's done toasting. The slots are 4cm wide, which allows you to toast many types of breads.

Of course, this device is not worth the money. Anyone who says otherwise is selling nonsense. For this amount you can buy at least 5 or even 10 appliances from another brand that will undoubtedly toast your bread just as well. Whether those other appliances are equally stunning, look equally indestructible (the exterior is completely made of die-cast metal) and are equipped with an electronically controlled elevator that automatically lowers your toast to keep it warm if you don't take it out immediately is a question. other question. However, sometimes you like to do something crazy. Like buying this device. In addition to the keep warm function and automatic lift, the white LED lights are also a nice touch that shows both your (stepless and perfectly adjustable) degree of browning and the course of the grilling process. And there is a bagel function (grill only on one side) and defrost setting for frozen sandwiches. And a (small) crumb tray. The sandwich / croque monsieur function is OK, but so far did not give quite the same result as with a real croque machine. We use "Nostik" bags to avoid melted cheese residues, etc. And then your bread will still brown nicely, but your croques will not be very crispy. Although I still have to try it without spreading butter on the outside. Finally, the 2 slots could certainly be a bit longer for me (they are certainly not too short, and even longer than with the Dualit devices I think, but they are certainly not long), and small slices and (half) sandwiches of 'low' bread may be lifted a little higher. But those are nails at low tide. Bad buy? Certainly not! Despite the (minor) flaws (which you will probably have on almost every device), very satisfied. But a recommendation? Mmm. If you want to please yourself, have a penchant for design and superior workmanship, and you can afford it, you won't regret it. I just hope the electronics don't fail before the next generation inherits it!

I love toasting regular bread, especially delicious thick slices. Degree of browning can be dosed well. What didn't go well for me was making toast. The outside burned and inside not warm enough to melt the cheese. Despite this, I am very satisfied with the roasting.

What ultimately disappoints me about the device is that the device cannot be repaired after the warranty period has expired. My toaster recently broke, everything still works, but the heating elements don't get hot. It turns out: wire of the heating element broken. Because the device is out of warranty, and no parts are sold, the device can go into the bin right away. I really think that's a shame. I'm now wondering whether it wouldn't be smarter to purchase a cheap toaster that contains fewer materials, they also last a long time, and are environmentally technically a lot more sustainable.
