For the job for which the oil is intended, it is VERY expensive and cannot be used economically because you have to tilt the bottle and then automatically squeeze the soft plastic.

I doubt whether it really makes sense to re-oil the machine after every shredding action, but if you want to do everything to keep your device in top condition, you can do that. The manufacturer's recommended method of dropping oil through the slot as it rotates in reverse results in high oil consumption and a large mess. One of the reasons is that after cutting the top of the spire, a large opening is immediately created, so that the oil comes out of the bottle very generously. The method indicated by Coolblue to let the oil soak into a sheet of paper and to lubricate the machine by shredding this sheet works neater and more economically, but I am not convinced that it is as effective. Undoubtedly it concerns oil with a Very Special Composition according to a Secret Formula, but the price of more than €50 per liter is very high. For that price I would have expected at least an extensive story about the wonderful properties of this miracle oil - now I am left with the doubt whether I have not bought ordinary salad oil at twenty times the normal price. 😉 On the other hand, the oil that other manufacturers offer for the same purpose is often much more expensive. According to the specification, the oil is of vegetable origin, so we can assume that the product is environmentally friendly and biodegradable.

The oil is necessary for the maintenance of the machine. After emptying the bin I spray a little on the blades, which then have to rotate backwards. This keeps the blades sharp and the machine lasts longer.
