Nikon SB-700 Speedlight Flash

After the cooblue purchase of my D3200 and Nikon lens (18-105) it was time to explore with my camera. Beautiful pictures appeared in my album ... until I used the small flash on the camera. Man, man, what a lot of frustrations all of a sudden!!! Sharp and hard-lined contrasts. No, those weren't the pictures I had in mind. In an emergency, that small point is a flash of the camera and a solution, but certainly not recommended for a nice amateur photo report. In my search for a price/quality flash, I was guided in the first phase by the reviews on this site. Later I started browsing through google and on YouTube. And what is written here is correct. It is a powerful price/quality flash with which you can make beautiful exposures. You can make the light bounce and you get colorful and especially soft photos. If you have a compact device such as my D3200, the flash looks dominant on the camera. The weight ... well ... solidity weighs, but again not of such a nature that you start to bend. If you also have a sturdy lens with you, then a day of hiking is a real challenge. But ... when I see the results in my photos, I like to include that. The settings on the flash are endless or you set it to TTL and the camera does all the calculations for you. Works very well. I was surprised at the battery life. With my previous flash I always had a box of batteries with me when I went out ... this is now a thing of the past. A good tip, buy decent rechargeable batteries with a good reputation. Low-cost batteries belong in toys but not in solid equipment. There are some color filters included that you can play with, but they are still in the package with me. I bought the SB-700 a few weeks ago. Waited a long time to buy, because I had set my sights on the SB-600 but it turned out to be out of stock. Then I hesitated between an SB-700 and an SB-900 flash. Finally bought an SB-700 and I am very satisfied. The indoor photos are a great improvement. Bounce flash works just great. The internal flash of an SLR camera works very well in itself, especially if you compare it with compact devices, but indoors and in real darkness.... Not really pretty. With the SB-700, the photos quickly become much, much nicer. Bounce flash is not difficult and you will experiment more and more. The omnibounce often gives the best picture within (short distances). Operation is quick and easy. Flash responds well and quickly. In my opinion a great device!

After owning a cheap Asian flash, I wanted a high-end flash that had ALL the functions in it. The SB-700 was the excellent choice for this! -CONTENTS- You will receive the flash in the original Nikon box. This contains a soft case in which you will find the flash, 1 white diffuser and 2 color gels (green and red). The white diffuser works as a kind of light ball and will really send the light in all directions and is very useful for bouncing and direct flash. The green color gel is useful for cold fluorescent light and the red color gel for candlelight and the like, but in practice both are rarely used. You also get a handy foot if you want to flash off-camera. There are also 2 manuals provided, 1 with all the technical details and 1 with quick tips so you can get started. -EXTERIOR- The device feels solid in all areas; the hatch to insert the batteries, the lock to turn the head, the buttons etc. The operation is largely done with the round rotary wheel that ensures that you are at the right menu or flash strength in an instant. The display is illuminated green and the contrast of the screen can be adjusted freely. To attach the flash to your device, a lock button is provided that lowers a pin and ensures that the SB-700 cannot slide off your device. -FUNCTIONS- As mentioned before, this device has everything under the hood: TTL, manual control, master, optical slave, AF-laser assist, zoom range ... It also plays harmoniously with your body. For example, if you adjust the light metering from spot metering to matrix metering, the TTL metering will take the entire environment into account to expose everything correctly instead of just your focus point. If you adjust the focus point, a different laser beam is used so that the focusing still takes place optimally. If you place the diffuser on the head, it will set the zoom range to the widest ... Everything has been thought of! -SMALL CONS- As a nightlife photographer I often find myself in dark environments. This is where the autofocus assist laser comes in as a lifesaver. I also like to take pictures without flash but with this handy AF laser. So keep in mind that you have to cover the flash head if you still want to use the laser without flashing. You can set this in the SB-910, but not in the SB-700. Of course this is solved with a black bag over it ;-) -CONCLUSION- Are you an advanced user and want complete freedom of flash? Buy this SB-700, you won't regret it because it is a champion among flashes. The SB-700 is and remains the little brother of the SB-910. So if you want a heavier model with a wider and narrower zoom range, higher guide number, more wireless groups, etc., it is better to save up for the SB-910. Keep in mind that the SB-910 is more expensive, heavier, larger and less battery efficient.
