A fan heater has a fan and a heating element, like a filament. The heater blows the hot air in the room, so the room warms up quickly.

You can feel the warmth right away.
With the fan, you can spread the warmth throughout the entire room.

The heat of a convection heater is comparable to a radiator that's connected to the central heating. Cold air passes the heater and heats up. The hot air rises, so cool air passes the heater again.
