What's the right connector for your electric cooktop?
It's important to have the right connector for an electric cooktop. Otherwise, it won't work like it should, or a fuse can blow.
• 1 phase: a 1-phase connector is a standard connector with a regular socket, and it provides at most 3680W.
• 2 phases: there's a circuit for your stove in your fuse box (2 connected circuits with 1 lever), and a socket with 5 holes in your kitchen (Perilex connector).
• 3 phases: there's a powerful circuit (4 connected circuits with 1 lever) and a socket with 5 holes in your kitchen (Perilex connector).
How do you measure the required cutout width?
The cutout width is the width of the interior of the space you place the cooktop in.
Measure from the left side to the right side of the cutout with a measuring tape. Keep the tape measure tight. You now know the width of your cutout. The top of a cooktop is always slightly wider than the cutout itself, because the edge rests on the countertop. Is there a cooktop in the cutout right now so you can't measure it? View the manual of your product. The width of the cooktop itself also says something about the cutout width.
- Measure the cutout width
- Measure the cutout depth
- Measure the thickness of your countertop
