According to our camera lens expert
The Sony SEL 35mm f/1.8 is a compact lens for Sony mirrorless cameras with an E-mount. The fixed focal length makes the lens versatile. For example, it's suitable for portrait, architecture, and landscape photography. You can easily take photos in low-light situations thanks to the maximum aperture of f/1.8. The lens has a round aperture with 7 aperture blades. This provides a natural bokeh. Thanks to the image stabilization, you can capture stable handheld images.

Top lens, just been able to order with the Sony cashback promotion and of course a fast and neat delivery thanks to coolblue. Quality of the photos is much better than the kit lens (Have a Sony A6000 + 16-50/f3.5-5.6). Incredibly beautiful and good bokeh effect, autofocus is very fast and accurate, lens is also very compact and not heavy, so easy to carry. Perfect for portrait photography, photos where you want to have the foreground and background nicely separated, also very nice for landscape photography. No zoom options because it is a prime lens, so a fixed focal length, pay attention to this before purchasing whether you will be happy with the 35mm.

I already had a 50mm f/1.8 lens, but I noticed that due to the crop factor of my Sony A6000, I was often too close to the subject (my daughter) at home. I missed the space around. A 50mm lens with a crop factor of 1.5 eventually becomes an 80mm lens. That's why I went looking for an alternative and ended up with this 35mm lens. I am very happy with it! It is therefore less 'zoomed in', making it ideal for shooting at home. I no longer have to go to the other side of the room to get a nice picture of my daughter while she is playing nicely ;-) This lens was also ideal on vacation. With a small adjustment in the aperture, you can first capture a landscape beautifully, and then switch again for a detail photo with beautiful bokeh. When I photograph and set the aperture to f/1.8, I notice that it is difficult to get the sharpness in the right place. Logical, since f/1.8 comes very close. That is why I recommend (especially with people and animals) not to go lower than f/2.0. Then you have a better grasp of the sharpness.

Purchased especially for Astrophotography, the light sensitivity of f/1.8 is perfect with a Hoya starscape filter to filter out the light pollution in my environment. Also use the lens to shoot wildlife shots .
