How do you upgrade to Windows 11?
You can update many Windows 10 laptops and desktops to Windows 11 for free. In this article, you can read in 3 steps how to quickly install the latest Windows version.
Upgrade to Windows 11 in 3 steps
You can upgrade your laptop or desktop via these 3 steps:
- go to the settings
- check for the latest updates
- install Windows 11
Step 1: go to the settings

Click on the Windows logo and then on 'Settings'.

Now select 'Update & Security'.
- Click the Windows logo in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Several icons will appear above the Windows logo. Click on the gearwheel icon that says Settings.
- Now select Update & Security.
Step 2: check for the latest updates
Under Windows Update, click on Check for updates and Windows will automatically search for the latest updates. If windows 11 is available, click on the update and the download will start. When the download is done, click on Restart now.
Step 3: install Windows 11
- After a couple of minutes, you'll see the first installation window. Select your country and continue.
- Select the time zone and keyboard layout. NL/QWERTY: United States, BE/AZERTY: France, QWERTZ: Germany.
- Connect your laptop or desktop to your network. Enter the password for the WiFi connection. Tip: check the box next to Connect automatically. That way, the laptop will automatically connect to WiFi.
- Create an account. Choose a username and then a password.
- Finally, select the privacy settings that are important to you. You'll then see the welcome screen and you're device will be ready for use.
Note: during the installation, your laptop or desktop will restart multiple times. This is part of the installation. Don't worry and wait patiently.
