Get started with the V12 and V15
We've collected 4 tips, so you can get the most of your new Dyson.
Tip 1. Make sure you have a full battery
Tip 2. Check and clean the dust collector and filter
Tip 3. Keep the brushes and green laser clean
Tip 4. Turn it into a handheld vacuum
Tip 1: make sure you have a full battery
The Dyson V12 and V15 batteries have a battery life of 1 hour in the normal mode. Before you start with your new aid, you have to charge the battery 100%. That way, you calibrate it, so you're sure you can use it the full hour. Is an hour too little, or do you want an extra battery? Buy a second one to double the battery life. You can easily detach them, so they're quick to replace.
Tip 2: check and clean the dust collector and filter
Clean and empty dust collector
A full dust collector blocks the air stream, because dirt builds up in the dust cup. In addition, a full dust collector can damage the motor. Empty the collector as often as possible, so the dirt can't build up. That's easy to do hygienically by pressing the red lever down above the trash can. Does the collector stay dusty after a while? You can detach it completely and clean it with a cloth.
Clean and replace filter
If you need to clean or replace the filter, the V12 and V15 will notify you. On the LCD screen, the smart vacuums show you the steps you have to follow. You can see how to detach, clean, and dry the filter. You can postpone this notification as long as possible by knocking dust off the filter from time to time. That way, it can breath and it doesn't wear as fast, so you have to clean it less often.
Tip 3: keep the brushes and green laser clean
Torque drive floor attachment
Do you use the vacuum in eco mode? The torque drive floor attachment adjust the vacuum power to the floor type automatically. This way, you keep a constant suction power. The brush has rigid hairs that can reach deep into the fibers of a carpet, and they easily collect pet hairs. You do need to regularly check the brushes for dirt and hair buildup. That way, you make sure the brush doesn't block, get damaged, or that you lose vacuum power. You can release the brush by removing the cover on the side.
Fluffy brush
The Detect Laser is places at a 1.5-degree angle at a 7.3mm height. From this angle, it can best point you to invisible dirt, so you won't miss anything. It's important that you keep the brush and laser clean. You do so by detaching the brush and removing built-up hairs and dirt. It's also possible to wash the brush. You can read how to do so exactly in the manual.
Tip 4: turn it into a handheld vacuum
By turning the vacuum into a handheld vacuum, you can use it for more than just vacuuming the floor. The array of included accessories make the Dyson V12 and V15 stick vacuums suitable for every cleaning job. Depending on the model, you'll receive a screw-shaped mini turbo brush for pet hairs and a soft dusting brush for delicate furniture, for example. You'll also receive an accessory clip which you can mount to the tube, so you'll always have 2 accessories at hand.
