The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD 500GB is an external SSD for demanding users. If you're taking lots of photos on the go, you can safely store them on this SSD, because the drive has an IP55 rating. That means it's splash proof and dustproof, so all your photos will survive a rainstorm or a walk in the sand. On top of that, this SSD writes quickly. Transferring a folder of high-resolution photos with a total size of 4GB will take around 8 seconds, thanks to the 550MB/s transfer speed. You can connect the drive to a laptop with a USB-C port via 2nd-generation USB 3.1. The SSD has an integrated key ring, so you can hang the drive from your camera strap, allowing for easy access. Thanks to its 39-gram weight, your SSD weighs about the same as a passport, and you'll barely feel the drive while you're on the go.

My son bought a MacBookAir last year, this year the school told every student to buy a laptop. Since we had just invested in the mac, we didn't like that. So I had to make sure that windows 10 was also installed. The mac's SSD is only 125GB, so I thought about an external drive on Thunderbolt, these are very expensive. Then I thought let's try USB3. And it works, and fast enough. It is not noticeable that the operating system is on an external drive.
